I’m so happy I found David when I did. I’ve been a massage therapist for 10 years and was looking for someone amazing to do my massages after my therapist moved away. David may be newer to the massage field but he definitely has the experience … More and the gift of touch and healing that is hard to find. His background and training over the years in other areas have definitely played a part in his skills today and it shows! David exceeded my expectations and my Lomi Lomi massage was such an incredible experience. I look forward to being a regular client of his. Book a session!! You will not regret it.

Have had massages all over the world. This is one of the very best I have received! Booked second massage before I left!

Lomi lomi, a traditional Hawaiian therapeutic massage, treats the body and mind as one. It can:

  • release physical tension and mental stress by slowing down the nervous system
  • assist the flow of blood and lymph
  • help your body eliminate waste and stimulate the removal of toxins
  • rejuvenate the body by loosening joints, muscles, and increasing range of motion
  • instill a sense of inner peace, harmony with life, and general well being.

More than a physical massage, Lomi lomi is a spiritually empowering bodywork practice based on the traditional Hawaiian philosophy of huna.

The goal of huna, or ho’omana, is to find harmony in all aspects of our lives by opening energy pathways in the body. By moving life-force energy, we release physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual blockages, coming into harmony with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us.

Another important concept in lomi lomi massage is aloha, which has various meanings, including love, affection, peace, and compassion. For this reason, lomi lomi is also known as the “loving hands” massage.

Auntie Margaret Machado was the first practitioner to share lomi lomi with non-Hawaiians in the early 1970s. She defined lomi lomi as “the loving touch, a connection of heart, hands and soul with the source of all life.”

What to expect during a lomi lomi massage

Lomi lomi begins with intention. You set an intention for any healing you want to receive, and I say a silent prayer asking to become a channel for whatever healing needs to be given. I then rest my hands on you for a moment of connection and stillness.

From this point, no lomi lomi experience is exactly the same, as I intuitively respond to your body’s energy and allow aloha to do the work.

I use range-of-motion stretches, deep tissue release, abdominal massage — and most importantly, long, rhythmic, fluid, and nurturing strokes not only to gently yet deeply relax your muscles, but also to release old patterns and behaviors from your cells.

By releasing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual tension, we hope to bring you into balance and harmony at every level.

Lomi lomi is one element of the signature massage.
